These 3 x 3 minute film clips are taken, with kind permission, from 2 Imperial War Museums’ films. Both show footage of the Western Front (August 1916 and March 1917) and show some of the impact of the Somme battle and troops crossing the Somme. They are filmed by JB McDowell, who filmed The Battle of the Somme.
